Do lawyers know the truth?

The first rule of criminal defense work is never ask if they did it. It's not important to the defense and a good lawyer doesn't want to know. In the US, the lawyer has a duty no to suborn perjury. Other than that, the lawyer has the duty to represent a client's interests to the best of the lawyer's ability.
