Is immigration going to become the wedge issue for conservatives in the 2010 midterm elections?

I hope so. Every time the Republicans have used this as a wedge issue they have done quite badly. With a bare majority of the United States now white it really doesn't pay to alienate minority groups. Like it or not, there are very few areas of this country you can win a general election without support from minority groups.
