Is this normal behaviour from work colleagues?

I work in an office and I feel surrounded by people who have no manners. My colleagues cough without putting their hands in front of their mouths constantly, they eat at their desks and leave dirty plates there all afternoon covered in sauce which stink the office out and they rarely return greetings like goodbye or good morning. There is a running battle about the radiators. Throughout the winter, the women always want them on full blast so they can sit there in jeans and T-shirts, so I have to sit in an office which begins to feel like a sauna by mid afternoon. Last Friday at our Christmas meal I was placed next to a woman who I tried to chat to a bit for the sake of politeness, the whole week she has been rude to me, refusing to cooperate with me or answer emails and acting like I was trying to slime up to her. Seeing as I was doing nothing of the sort, I have found this a mind boggling insult. Most of these people are in their late 20s and 30s but I feel I am working around children and I am going crazy.
