Cd rom on laptop burns cd but when its finished there is nothing on it.?

hi i have an acer laptop which my cd burner has gone faulty. It still burns iso to dvd, the 2 programs i use to burn CDs are NTI and WMP. both act as if it is doing the job and finishes it but when i go to play there is nothing on CD when i then put it back into the laptop it recognises it as a blank CD. Anyhelp would be great. thanks
