Welfare is ridiculous. Taxes are crazy. I pay over 30k in income taxes per year. Is it fair?

I know i will get little sympathy, but i believed I am an overlooked part of the population. I grew up very poor, worked hard got an education, now make 150k per year. My wife and I have no kids. Guess how much in taxes I pay? My hard work is penalized. % wise, i am footing quite a bit more than someone who does not want to better themself. it stinks...
