Isn't the anti-socialistic sentiment very offensive and insensitive toward our allies in Europe?

Most European countries (such as Germany which is Europe's industrial power) are led by social-democratic governments. In fact, Germany is the number one exporter of goods and services in the world. Any well-read person knows that. Since these countries keep up with the election in America (which is not based on mutuality - hardly any average American knows what's going on in Europe) isn't it somewhat offensive to denounce socialism and calling Obama supporters socialistic traitors and the like? Also, isn't calling Obama a communist an insult towards many European leaders who are successfully employing socialistic elements in their politics (such that lead to stable infrastructures, free college education and health care)? Aren't we really crossing a line here?
